Verno adjusted his cap on his head. His green hair was tied back in a band, as it usually was. Over his eyes were a pair of sunglasses.
Most would think that a member of the royal family wouldn't leave the castle without an escort but then again, no one knew Verno was out.
He tended to stick to the castle, meaning not many even knew who he was. Verno didn't like the popular lifestyle so he tended to stick to the shadows in the day-to-day working of Mayberry. It gave him the freedom to take pictures everywhere without having to worry about his family's enemies and what not.
Which is why he was now at the beach with a camera around his neck. He took off the shades and let out a sigh of relief. The castle could feel so constricting, having the sun and the wind blowing by was the best medicine to cure what he called, "Stone Sickness".
He wore a light shirt and shorts that doubled as swim trunks, though the were khaki colored. If it weren't for his good looks he would probably just pass as an average tourist. His green eyes looked over the coastline and his heart swelled with pride for his home.
The green haired young man brought the camera to his face and began taking pictures of the coastline. He took pictures of the waves, the sand, a crab he found retreating to the water that almost snapped at him. He had laughed it off before finding more things to take pictures of.
Verno went to a family playing on the beach and asked if he could take pictures of them. He promised that their faces wouldn't be in the pictures and that they could go over them if they wanted. The family was iffy on it; the wife seemed to be a bit camera shy, but they agreed. He took a picture of the children building a sand castle at an angle that hid their faces, and he took another of the family eating and another of the father of the family tossing his wife into the water.
All the while, he was smiling and laughing as if he was a member of the family himself. After he was done taking pictures, he settled down with the kids and helped them with their sand castle and even ate a bit with the family. After he went over the pictures with the family, they asked for copies. They exchanged numbers and he went on his way to find other things to take pictures of.
He found that he was exhausted now. And happy. Today had been so inspiring. It was day's like this that made him remember how much he loved his camera, and everything around him. He found a place to lay down his towel before he laid down. He tipped his hat over his eyes to shield them form the sun before he allowed himself to doze off.

ONE MORE FUCKING LOVE SONG AND I'LL BE SICK. [/classy][classy=text]Minnie walked onto the beach, her toes absorbing in the warm, oozing, sand. She took a deep breath in, and released it. It has been the first time in a while, since the start of summer vacation actually, that she's been able to relax like this, and take a break from all the stress her mother had been putting on her lately. Minnie loved her mother, she really did, but ever since she turned seventeen, all she would ever talk about with her is marriage. Why was her mother so concerned with Minnie's love life? And not only that, but she's searching for the "perfect" fianceƩ for Minnie. Really? The last time Minnie remembered, a person's love life was up to them and not their doting parents.
"Well, I shouldn't worry about that right now." She whispered to herself, straightening out her marine-blue towel that she got from the local Aquarium some three or two years ago. She then sat down, and began reading her English homework; As You Like It, by the always classic William Shakespeare. It was a mix of a love story and comedy, about a girl who's family is exiled from the Kingdom by her uncle, and so she runs away with her cousin disguised as a man to the forest, where she meets her true love. If only something like that could happened to me... She sighed.
After she finally finished the play, (yes, she read it all in one sitting) she stared out into the ocean, reminiscing the times she came to this same beach back when her family was happy, back when her father was still alive. They stopped the tradition the year he passed away, as it was always him who planned the outings. Minnie closed her eyes, thinking of her always-smiling father, who loved her, her brother, and her mother very much.
"Zzzz..." A sound of a person snoring broke her out of her reverie. Oh my... I wonder where that came from...? She thought with a confused look. She looked around, and finally found the source; a green-haired male with a cap over his head was sleeping. Her white, swim-suit cover dress skirts flowing behind her, she walked over to the male and observed him. Such long green hair... it looks so much like the Queen's... An idea then came to her, and smiling childishly, she reached into the sand, and poured some on the man's chest. It was just harmless fun, after all, and Minnie hasn't had any fun in forever.

The green haired royal snored softly. His eyelashes brushing against his skin. His arms were spread out on both sides of him, overflowing over the towel and resting on the warm sand. His legs were the same, resting mostly on the towel but still hanging out in the sand.
He was dreaming about meeting a mermaid, weird but he was enjoying the dream. She let him take pictures of things under the sea, which made no sense in retrospect. His camera couldn't take pictures underwater, it wasn't water-proof. He would have liked to take pictures of the creatures and such under the water though.
Verno was swimming through the cool water, that felt more like a breeze past his skin then actual water. He could feel a bit of warmth as if from the sun. It was a relaxing sensation but then he felt something hot on his chest. His eyes opened lazily, as if he really hadn't wanted to wake. He blinked several times, at first thinking the mermaid was standing over him, but after several more blinks and realizing she wouldn't be standing, he found the face of a girl he had never seen before.
He looked down at his chest and saw a small pile of warm sand. That explained the hot on his chest. At first he just looked at the sand, then back to the girl. It took him a second to realize that the sand might have gotten in his camera. He sat up quick, and frantically shook the sand from his chest. When the camera didn't swing at the movement, he searched side to side, completely forgetting his female observer.
His eyes locked onto his camera which sat safely at the foot of the towel. He grabbed it and sighed with relief that it was safe. A relieved smile on his face. It was only then that he remembered that he hadn't woken up on his own. His green eyes went to the girl that stood where she had before.
"Oh! Uh..." He looked down at her feet, as he felt his cheeks warming. He just wasn't very good with girls. Verno could easily start a conversation with a male but a female was completely different. He always felt like he was saying the wrong thing or doing the wrong thing. He always felt like he was coming off as a freak.
The male glanced back up with an apologetic smile. "I wasn't snoring, was I?" He figured that was what the female had poured sand on him for. It was the only thing that really made sense.

ONE MORE FUCKING LOVE SONG AND I'LL BE SICK. [/classy][classy=text]Taking a closer look at him... he's really quite good looking... Minnie thought, looking down at the sleeping man. She looked around at his belongings, he too was laying on a towel, and saw something at the foot of it, colored black. Crawling, she came close to it and picked it up. Oh, it's a camera! He must be a photographer! It's so expensive looking, though... Minnie pulled back a few strands of her fair blonde hair, which was tied up into a medium-sized bun on the top of her head. I wonder what he takes pictures of... is he a tourist? But I didn't know that Mayberry allows tourists... Minnie turned the camera on, and then began looking at the photos he took. It was a bit rude, Minnie knows this, but the man was asleep and it doesn't look like he would be waking up anytime soon.
Memories began to pour into Minnie's head. She saw photos, beautiful photos, of a family. Their faces weren't seen, probably to keep their identity a secret, but judging by their actions they seemed... happy. And not just the 'fake happy' that some families give off, but... genuine happiness. The type of happiness that reminded Minnie of her family before the incident that took her father's life. Minnie saw photos of a sand castle, made by two siblings, which reminded Minnie very much of her little brother and herself when they were younger. She saw a husband and a wife, happily married. The husband was hugging her, and judging by her physical appearance in the picture, she appeared to be laughing. I wonder if they're his family? She thought, flipping through all the photos, until one big image appeared of the whole family. The wife was leaning on her husband, and the two kids appeared to be smiling up at the camera, sitting next to their creation (the sandcastle) that they were oh so proud of.
The man began making a noise, sounding like he was waking up. Very quickly, Minnie turned off the camera, left it where it was, and hurried to his side. "Oh! Uh..." He began. He seemed to be quite flustered. Not that I blame him, I put sand on his chest and stared at him like some sort of stalker... "Um," She began. "Um- no, not at all! I mean, uh..." She mumbled. "I-I'm sorry! I shouldn't have done that to you! I-I had no idea what was going through my head at the time! I don't usually do such unruly things...! She blushed. "I-I'm sorry again!"

Verno rubbed his head at her reaction. She seemed to be as flustered as he felt. He chuckled at how silly they both probably looked. Two young people completely out of sorts for some odd reason, him covered in sand too.
The fact that she was flustered, helped him be a bit more relaxed. He looked down at his camera without really responding to her words. He fiddled with the camera for a second before he responded to her. He smiled up at her, his cheeks still a bit red. "It's fine. I mean, if you come to the beach you should expect to get sand everywhere."
He laughed again before continuing, "Besides, isn't there a game where you bury someone on the beach? Although I don't think I would want to be buried myself."
Verno's expression seemed to light up, as he realized something. He stood up quickly and brushed off what he could of the sand and put his camera around his neck before offering his new found companion a hand. "Uh, I'm sorry I should introduce myself. My name is Ver-." He stood mid name. Verno hadn't wanted to let out who he was.
His expression went solemn for a moment before he shook it off. "I'm Verno." He neglected to say his last name, hoping that would be enough to keep him out of the limelight.
In an attempt to keep her from pinning the first name with a last, he went straight into a question. "What's your name? If you don't mind me asking? And what brings you to the beach today?"
He messed with his hat for a second, hoping he hadn't just blown his cover. If so he would have to find some way to keep her from treating him differently or letting it out who he was.
